This week's top story Charities face obstacles in delivering aid to Burma CHRISTIAN charities working to bring relief to Burma after Saturday’s devastating cyclone claim it is potentially more problematic for aid relief than the Asian 2004 Tsunami. Both Christian Aid and Tearfund have sent money in response to the crisis which has left more than 21,000 people dead as we went to press but both say communication is extremely difficult. Christian Aid said it was hard to maintain contact with their partners in Burma owing to the cyclone’s destruction of communication systems. Both charities said the poverty and political situation in Burma was making the crisis far worse. .
