Soho: A celebration of this small beating heart in the capital of London

By Peter May

It’s the place where glamour and sleaze rub shoulders every day, so what do you conjure up in your mind when you hear the word Soho? For Londoners and visitors it means different things to everyone who ventures down its winding streets.

As the show states, Soho is not just a place, it is a state of mind and this creative and engaging performance is sure to be a hit not just with the locals but with everyone.

Featuring stratospheric trapeze acts, pulsating street dance and theatre, SOHO is a great adrenaline rush of a show.

From the moment the curtain opens, there is so much happening on the stage and in each corner, that you will have difficulty taking it all in. It is a maelstrom of movement; colour and humour right until the curtain comes down.

The heyday of 1950s Madame Jo Jo’s to punk in the 70s and from 90s rave to modern day drag queens, there is not a stone unturned here. The two acts involve scenes associated with Soho including Chinatown, Soho Square, The Colony Rooms and even the local gym gets a look in.

Throughout, it has a real London feel, the sets are simple but clever and it all takes place against a moving backdrop of videos of Soho and its environs.

If you are from London, you will love seeing places and characters that you recognise from your time here.

Until May 20th
